  One of my favorite ways to enjoy summer in Southwest Washington is visiting our local farmers markets. From the lively Vancouver Farmers Market downtown, filled with fresh produce, flowers, local food, and handmade goods, to the charming Camas Farmers Market and the relaxed, community feel of Battle Ground Farmers Market, each offers something a little different. Local farm markets like Bi-Zi Farms and Silver Star Farmers Market are also great places to shop for seasonal produce while connecting directly with local growers. Visiting these markets is an easy and fun way to support small businesses, enjoy fresh local food, and experience the communities that make Southwest Washington such a special place to live. Out in Our Community With the Stream Team!

On Saturday, February 1, 2014, 6 volunteers joined me at my volunteer event with the Stream Team. Together with other volunteers through Stream Team, we planted 228 new trees along the banks of Salmon Creek. My team contributed 28 volunteer hours to this cause. The project started in 1992 to restore 120 acres of land along 15 miles of Salmon Creek.
